Lichen Planus

My father-in-law has been diagnosed with Lichen Planus, and it's just absolutely terrible.  His arms and legs are effected.  Has anyone out there ever been diagnosed with this disease?  And if you were, have you found anything to give you relief?

Spots in Private Area

For a few months now, I've had two spots on my inner thigh in my private area. They look like a varicose vein but are round and dime-sized. There's a vein running right through that area, so that's why I'm thinking that's what they are.  They swell up in that one small dime-sized spot and bleed like a hemmoroid would.

Prickly Sensation

About two or three times a year for the last 10 years I have gotten this condition where I have an area of skin that has a prickly feeling to it when gently touched. It's a sensation similar to a sunburn. The area is anywhere from the size of a playing card to an area perhaps 7 or 8 inches across. There is no visible rash or discoloring. I have experienced it almost always below the waist, usually on a hip or thigh. It usually lasts eight or 10 days before fading away. I don't think it is a serious condition, but it is somewhat disconcerting. Any ideas?

Irritated Scalp

My scalp is red and irrated, and sometimes I get little pimples on it. It's also very itchy. I have tried special shampoos and washing my hair less often. I'm not getting any relief, and when I do it's very short term. What can I do about this?

Diet and Food

Are chocolate and greasy food a cause of oily skin? I read that they're not, but my friends and parents say they are. I get enough flak because I'm overweight; I don't need more becasue of my skin.

Moles

I've always had a few moles, and I've been told they're harmless. Lately I think one's gotten bigger and is surrounded by lighter skin. I'm thinking I should get it looked at. Should I have a dermatologist look at my moles?

Poison Ivy

Last year I had contact with poison ivy while I was wearing an old jacket. I handled the jacket again this week, and pow--I've got a small poison ivy rash. Is that stuff really that powerful?

Impetigo

My baby has a case of impetigo. One of the other mothers at the daycare doesn't want him to stay there because her daughter might catch it. I didn't think impetigo was contagious. Is it?
