Can tea tree oil be used to treat acne?

I'm looking for a natural treatment for acne. I've heard a lot about tea tree oil. Does it actually work?

Despite the hype, and the many companies marketing tea tree oil as a treatment for acne, I've never had any luck with it. The best treatment, from my experience, is the combination of a benzoyl peroxide ointment at night, paired with a Retin A formula such as Tazarac.
